The Fargo Mansion remained in the Fargo family as a
single family home until 1945, when the home was purchased and converted into a five
family apartment building. The home remained this way until 1981 when foreclosure
began its downward spiral of disrepair. By 1985, even though the home had been
placed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the property became an eyesore for the
community. It was completely boarded up. Devoid of all working mechanical
systems. No heat. No water. No electricity. It was a true
nightmare. BUT, not all was lost.
In
July of 1985, Barry Luce and Thomas Boycks purchased the home and began to
review the process of decay and to breath new life into this elegant old
structure. The sole purpose to transform this home into an elegant,
romantic, Victorian bed & breakfast. Opening in June of 1987,
the Fargo Mansion Inn has become a destination for first time bed and
breakfast guests as well as a return retreat for many over the past 18
years. Please come and enjoy. We await your arrival!
